Paul

Please meet Paul Taylor!

Paul, dad to Stevie, who has CLN3, and Jasmine, has raised exceptional funds for the BDFA and isn’t shy of a challenge. In 2023, Paul and a group of 13 friends and family embarked on the Snowdonia Triple Challenge which took them over some of the most demanding landscapes in Britain on foot, by bike, and in a kayak. This strenuous fundraiser didn’t discourage Paul and in 2024 he joined Team BDFA in the UK Challenge, the world’s largest team building event. The team took on 7 gruelling stages over the course of 3 days. These included swimming, kayaking, cycling and running tens of kilometres each day, all whilst solving tough Mensa puzzles and navigating through the beautiful yet vast areas of Dartmoor, on very little sleep!

Paul shared his motivation for committing himself to these events:

My inspiration for taking on this challenge is to raise as much awareness as possible about Batten disease and the impact it has on families like mine. The BDFA have been a massive support to us and have helped us through our darkest days and also put us in contact with all the amazing families around the country living with Batten disease and I would love to give a little back. My daughter inspires me each day to push myself.
