Family Support Officer (1 year Maternity Cover)

Can you help the Batten Disease Family Association support families affected by Batten Disease? This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated, highly-organised self-starter to make a significant contribution, as part of a team, to the development of a growing charity by making a real difference to affected families across the UK.

As the only dedicated patient organisation in the UK, the Batten Disease Family Association’s aims to be the central point of excellence in the UK for supporting affected families and to facilitate research into the disease.

In this key role you will work with the Charity Manager to deliver a high quality, flexible support service to affected families and related professionals.

The successful candidate will possess a range of experience and abilities that will enable them to meet our support objectives with skill and confidence.  You will also have an understanding of the scope of providing services through a charitable patient organisation and preferably a demonstrative track record of providing support/advice and information in service delivery to families of disabled children. Among your key strengths will be excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation and networking skills, with the ability to demonstrate an understanding of the needs of people with progressive, profound multiple disabilities and the impact on the families.
